About the Role
Veritas Education is working in partnership with a supportive secondary school in the Halifax area to recruit an enthusiastic and committed English Teacher for a full-time, long-term position.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a welcoming English department and inspire students through engaging lessons across KS3 and KS4. The successful candidate will teach both English Language and Literature, helping students develop their literacy, analytical and communication skills while preparing them for GCSE examinations.
Applications are welcomed from both experienced teachers and Early Career Teachers (ECTs).
Key Responsibilities
Plan and deliver engaging English Language and Literature lessons across KS3 and KS4Prepare students effectively for GCSE examinationsPlan, prepare and assess lessons in line with curriculum requirementsDifferentiate teaching to meet the needs of students of varying abilitiesMonitor student progress and provide constructive feedbackMaintain high standards of behaviour and classroom managementEncourage a love of reading, writing and literatureContribute positively to departmental planning and the wider school communityThe Ideal Candidate
Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or a recognised teaching qualificationHas experience teaching English within a secondary school settingStrong subject knowledge across English Language and LiteratureConfident teaching KS3 and KS4Excellent classroom and behaviour management skillsPassionate about raising attainment and engaging young peopleCommitted to safeguarding and supporting positive outcomes for studentsECTs are encouraged to applyWhat the School Offers
