The Role
We are seeking a passionate, creative, and dedicated English Teacher to join a specialist team in Burnley. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced teacher who is committed to making English accessible, engaging, and meaningful for pupils with a range of additional learning needs.
The successful candidate will deliver high-quality English lessons across KS3 and KS4, helping pupils develop their literacy, communication, reading, and writing skills while supporting their social, emotional, and personal development.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated English lessons aligned with the national curriculum and individual learning needsTeach English Language and Literature across KS3 and KS4, adapting content and resources to support pupil progressDevelop pupils' reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills through creative and inclusive teaching approachesCreate and implement personalised learning plans and support EHCP targetsFoster a positive, structured, and inclusive classroom environment that promotes confidence and a love of learningMonitor, assess, and report on pupil progress, achievement, and attainmentWork collaboratively with Teaching Assistants, SENCOs, therapists, and external agencies to support pupil outcomesSupport pupils' communication, emotional regulation, and social development through effective classroom practiceUse positive behaviour management strategies and trauma-informed approaches to maximise engagement and achievementThe Ideal Candidate Will Have
QTS or QTLS (essential)Experience teaching English at KS3 and KS4 levelExperience working with pupils with SEN, either in mainstream or specialist settingsStrong understanding of ASD, ADHD, SEMH, communication difficulties, and additional learning needsThe ability to differentiate effectively and adapt teaching to meet a range of learning styles and abilitiesExcellent classroom management and behaviour support skillsA calm, patient, and nurturing approachA commitment to inclusive education and raising attainment for all learnersAn Enhanced DBS on the update service, or willingness to obtain oneWhat's on Offer
