Position Information

Eden Marine High School, with a student population of 560 students including approximately 70 Aboriginal students, is situated on the beautiful far south coast of NSW. The school has strong links to the community through the local AECG, external agencies and other organisations. 

 

Eden Marine High School offers a broad academic and vocational curriculum, has four support classes, and provides an extensive range of sport, wellbeing and creative arts opportunities and programs to inspire excellence and cater for the diverse needs of students. 

 

The school has a strong emphasis on high expectations explicit teaching, and is focused on ensuring all students develop the skills they need to be successful now and in their future.

The Deputy Principal is a highly visible and proactive leader who models and leads the implementation of exemplary practice. As part of a diverse and highly skilled team, you will collaboratively lead strategic initiatives to support staff and student wellbeing and maximise the learning outcomes of all students.

General Selection Criteria

1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy

Specific Selection Criteria

In addition to the general selection criteria,

  1. Proven capability as a highly visible, proactive, positive and calm leader who works collaboratively with staff, students and families to embed whole-school systems that promote student wellbeing and facilitate growth in student learning.   
  2. Demonstrated commitment to an inclusive and culturally responsive school culture, with demonstrated capacity to consult and partner with the local Aboriginal community and AECG to inform culturally responsive educational practices. 

     

  3. Demonstrated ability to lead high-impact student centred initiatives, strategically using data-informed improvement cycles, evaluative practice and evidence-informed processes to drive measureable improvement aligned with the School Excellence Plan.
  4. Demonstrated capacity to positively promote the learning, achievements and activities of the school.
Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.

 

Special Notes

This is an above centrally identified permanent position established through school funds. The successful candidate’s continued appointment to this position will be subject to the continuity of funding, the ongoing requirement of the position and the educational needs of the school. 

Should the funding or the requirement for the position cease, the teacher will receive nominated transfer status; please refer to the Staffing Procedure for the Teaching Service in NSW Public Schools for additional information.
