About Us:

North Lakes State College opened its doors in 2002 and enables students to commence in Prep and continue through to Year 12 across our two campuses. As a unique educational College, we offer many different areas of expertise including an industry standard commercial kitchen for hospitality studies, state of the art VI experience, as well as sharing our exceptional sporting facilities with the public.

The College has established a well-planned and sequenced curriculum program that is supported by a large selection of extra-curricular activities which assist students to explore their talents, interests and abilities. About the Role:

This leadership role includes oversight of the Year 9 cohort, leadership of the College's teacher induction processes and support for new and beginning teachers, as well as responsibility for the Junior Certificate of Education (JCE). The successful applicant will also be a lead member of the College's Pedagogy Committee, driving whole-school improvement through high-quality teaching and learning practices.

In addition to whole-of-college responsibilities, the successful applicant will have specific oversight of student management for Year 9, with a focus on behaviour, engagement and attendance. This role is central to supporting students through a critical stage of their educational journey, strengthening connections between curriculum, wellbeing and future pathways.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate:

  • Proven leadership in curriculum, pedagogy and school improvement.
  • Expertise in driving high-impact, data-informed teaching strategies.
  • The ability to lead change, build staff capability and foster a culture of excellence.
  • Strong relational, communication and organisational skills.
  • A commitment to inclusive education and improving outcomes for every student.
  • Knowledge and experience in senior schooling would be advantageous, but is not essential.

Key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Assisting the Executive Team to lead the school community in developing, articulating and committing to a shared educational vision focused on quality learning outcomes for all students.
  • Deputising for the Principal when required.
  • Upholding the deputy principalship as a values-based, ethical and moral activity.
  • Embedding socially just practices within the daily life of the College.
  • Leading student engagement, wellbeing and behavioural support processes for the Year 9 cohort.
  • Supporting the development and induction of new and beginning teachers through coaching, mentoring and professional learning.
  • Contributing to whole-school improvement through active leadership of pedagogy, curriculum and strategic initiatives.
