Position Information
Casula High School is a comprehensive, coeducational setting that has an enrolment of approximately 1250 students, including 3.6% Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, 39% EAL/D, 3.3% refugee background and 78% students from a non-English speaking background. Casula High School has a Support Unit consisting of one mild intellectual disability class, two autism classes and one moderate intellectual disability class.

Teaching and learning is at the forefront of all decisions and practices at Casula High School and clearly underpinned by the four pillars within our Casula CAPE (Curriculum, Assessment, Pedagogy and Engagement). This structure provides guidance to our whole school community both inside and outside of the classroom by ensuring the establishment of ongoing and sustained excellence in leading, learning and teaching practice.
General Selection Criteria
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
Specific Selection Criteria
In addition to the general selection criteria,
1. Strong communication, organisational and management capabilities with a proven ability to work collaboratively as a member of the senior executive team to build a culture of high expectations that drives continuous improvement and school excellence.
2. Demonstrated ability to initiate, lead, implement and support student wellbeing frameworks that enhance attendance, engagement and a positive school culture.
3. Demonstrated ability to lead the NSW Plan for Public Education at a whole school level, with a focus on innovative pedagogical practices that create an environment of best practice in relation to improving student learning outcomes and providing meaningful post school pathways.
4. A highly visible and approachable instructional leader who demonstrates expertise in using data to inform strategic planning, implementation and evaluation, aligned to curriculum, assessment and pedagogy.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
