Your opportunity:

With approximately 30 students from Defence families enrolled at our school, this established role plays an important part in supporting students from Defence backgrounds to thrive emotionally, socially and academically throughout their schooling.

The Defence School Mentor acts as a vital link between home and school, supporting young people from Defence families to successfully integrate into the school community and experience a welcoming, inclusive and supportive educational environment.

Key responsibilities:

  • Support students from Defence families with their social, emotional and academic wellbeing
  • Assist students to settle into and engage positively with the school community
  • Act as a connection between families, students, school staff and external stakeholders
  • Monitor the social and emotional wellbeing of students from Defence families
  • Provide advocacy and support for students as needed
  • Work collaboratively with individuals, groups, families and stakeholders to develop and implement programmes that promote inclusion, connection and   belonging for Defence students.
