Veritas Education are currently recruiting for confident and reliable Cover Supervisors to work in secondary schools across Huddersfield. This is an excellent opportunity for graduates, aspiring teachers, experienced teaching assistants, youth workers, sports coaches, or anyone looking to gain valuable classroom experience within education.

As a Cover Supervisor, you will be responsible for managing a classroom in the absence of the regular teacher, ensuring students remain engaged with the work provided and maintaining a positive learning environment.

The Role

  • Deliver pre-planned lessons across a range of subjects.
  • Manage classroom behaviour in line with school policies.
  • Ensure pupils remain on task and complete assigned work.
  • Provide support and guidance to students where appropriate.
  • Report back to teaching staff regarding lesson progress and behaviour.
  • Build positive relationships with students and school staff.

  • Confidence in managing groups of young people.
  • Strong behaviour management skills or a willingness to develop them.
  • Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable.

  • Right to work in the UK.
  • An enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
  • Relevant references covering the last two years.
