About the Role:
- Provide educational counselling and support services within schools to ensure that the best possible assistance services are available to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander children, students, families and communities.
- Provide cross cultural awareness training to the broader school community.
- The successful applicant will have strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage respectfully and effectively in a cross-cultural context. You will be confident delivering support programs and cultural training, and passionate about improving educational outcomes for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander young people.
Responsibilities:
- Provide educational counselling and support services to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students and families.
- Support and encourage student engagement in education through targeted programs and activities.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with community organisations and support services.
- Contribute to the planning and delivery of cultural and educational initiatives within the school.
- Provide advice to staff on cultural protocols and perspectives.
- Promote awareness of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander histories, cultures and contributions within the school community.
- Support the development of positive partnerships between schools, families and communities.
- Utilise funded programs in a responsible and accountable manner.
