Position Information
Canterbury Public School is a NSW government school established in 1878 catering for students from Kindergarten to Year 6. Canterbury serves a diverse community currently consisting of 307 students. 51% of students come from over 30 language backgrounds and 2% of students are from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander backgrounds. The school currently has 11 mainstream classes and 5 support unit classes.

General Selection Criteria
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
Specific Selection Criteria
1. In addition to the general selection criteria, approval to teach special education and/or experience meeting the needs of students with autism, intellectual disabilities, and complex behaviours, including designing, delivering and evaluating evidence-informed individual student plans.
2. Proven ability to lead a Team Around the Child approach, working with families, staff and external agencies to maximise learning and wellbeing outcomes for students with disability.
3. Experience in promoting evidence-based teaching practices to build the capacity of staff within an inclusive education support unit resulting in improved student outcomes.
4. Exceptional interpersonal and leadership skills with the capacity to work collaboratively within a dynamic executive team, contributing to strategic initiatives that drive school-wide improvement.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
