Position Information
Forbes North Public School is located on the lands of the Galari river people within the ancestral lands of the Wiradjuri nation in Forbes, Central Western New South Wales. The school is a focal point of the community and caters for students in Kindergarten to Year 6. Forbes North has 20 full-time teaching staff with additional part-time teaching and support staff assisting in addressing the learning needs of all 200 students with 51% of Forbes North's student population identifying as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander.
The school is proud of the ongoing partnership between home and school. Forbes North Public School has strong relationships with an energetic Parent & Citizens Association consisting of parents, caregivers and the wider community. In partnership with the Schools as Community Centre we offer a number of parent education classes to help parents and caregivers engage more fully with their child's learning at school and at home.
Forbes North Public School provides opportunities in the creative and performing arts and sport with dedicated specialist teachers in both fields and promotes student leadership, responsibility and respect. Students are encouraged to do their personal best in a safe and caring environment. Forbes North has invested significantly in specialist staff to support student learning and teacher professional development in literacy and numeracy. General Selection Criteria
Specific Selection Criteria
- Demonstrated capacity to contribute effectively as a member of the executive leadership team, leading whole-school initiatives aligned with strategic directions, while successfully balancing the dual role of classroom teacher and Assistant Principal.
- A deep understanding of current evidence-based research in effective instruction and data analysis with the demonstrated ability to lead, inspire, coach and build the capacity of a team of teachers to improve student outcomes.
- Proven ability to lead and build teacher capacity in the implementation of high-quality literacy and numeracy programs by using summative and formative assessment and effective data analysis to enhance learning outcomes and whole school improvement.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
