Taskworks

Excursion / Last updated 4 years, 8 months ago

With activities ranging from a puzzle room, a theatre-style costume area, giant mazes and a construction area called ‘Build-It’, Taskworks brings a healthy dose of fun to school excursions.

What do you get when you mix a teacher’s vision with an engineer’s know-how? The answer is Taskworks, a unique indoor venue catering for all primary and early secondary students, run with a personal touch and numerous, very different and absorbing activities.

Taskworks started in 2004 and has grown to be a very popular excursion venue for schools all around Melbourne.

The venue’s popularity stems from its capacity to cover many parts of the curriculum whilst always teaching children how to communicate
and work together.

Term 1 visits are popular as the ‘getting to know you’, transition, and bonding themes are heavily accentuated.
Term 2 and 3 visits generally cover more specific classroom topics, such as inventions, simple machines, what makes things work and specialised drama.

Problem solving and thinking, taking risks, assertive behaviour and other aspects of the You Can Do It and Resilience programs are also popular reasons for visiting.

Term 4 is the FUN term! Whilst still learning, the children have fun through all the areas and develop a greater bond, or form new relationships.
Most importantly, all Taskworks activities are designed to bring out children’s strong points and to allow everyone to succeed and enjoy the day. Those who want to think can problem solve, the athletes can let off steam and the creative ones can dress up and dream.

Children are split into groups and rotated around six areas. These include a Puzzle Room, a Build It Room, a large theatre costume area
called Create-A-Scene, a giant Cable Maze, a coordination activity called Stomp-A-Stump and a strategy game called Peg Fast – a game that
has to be seen to be understood!

Activities are all clearly explained and supervised by the Taskworks team. Children are engaged and 100 per cent hands-on all day.

Situated in Mulgrave, close to Eastlink and the South Eastern Freeway, it’s easy to get to. Only one school visits per day, generally starting at
10am and finishing at 2:30pm.

If you haven’t been and want to experience a great excursion the children won’t ever forget, call the teacher, Rose, or the engineer, Greg, and
they will guarantee a personal experience from the moment you call to the second you leave.
