Queanbeyan West Public School has 470 students with 12% Aboriginal and 25% LBOTE. The Assistant Principal Hearing (Itinerant) is based at Queanbeyan West Public School and is responsible for an administrative/teaching caseload across various schools. The Schools (Primary and High School) are those located in Queanbeyan/Eden Monaro network, who have any students who are deaf or hearing impaired.
The Assistant Principal has a caseload of students as well as supervising Itinerant Support Teachers. This role actively supports the participation of parents/carers in the planning and programming of the learning and supported needs of identified students. The Assistant Principal Hearing liaises with the base school principal on administration and management issues including professional learning opportunities, supervision caseload and teaching and learning programs. The Assistant Principal Hearing must have the ability and willingness to travel between work sites.
