New Lambton Heights Infants School is a proud K-2 public school with an enrolment of 58 students, including 4 students who identify as Aboriginal. Located in the Newcastle area on the traditional lands of the Awabakal people, the school community is characterised by a high socio-educational advantage, reflected in a Family Occupation and Education Index (FOEI) of 4.
We recognise that the early years are a crucial period for establishing strong foundations in learning, wellbeing and social development. Our inclusive, nurturing environment promotes respectful, responsible and empathetic citizenship. Through a holistic approach to teaching and learning, our students are actively encouraged to explore, play and develop the vital dispositions of curiosity, resilience and problem-solving.
The school's enrolment is supported by highly engaged families, an active P&C and strong collaborative partnerships with local preschools and primary schools, ensuring seamless transitions into Kindergarten and on to Year 3. Rich community connections shape our identity, including close ties with Wallsend South Public School, the Muloobinbah Local Aboriginal Education Consultative Group (LAECG) and the City of Newcastle through unique curriculum integration with the neighbouring Blackbutt Reserve.
Our collaborative teaching staff are committed to evidence informed practice to drive continuous school improvement. Current strategic priorities focus on the purposeful use of data to drive individualised student progress, embedding student voice, fostering culturally responsive practices aligned with Department policies and sustaining strong, trusting community relationships.
