Narara
Public School has a current enrolment of 416 students, inclusive of 34 Aboriginal
students. The school has a thriving, newly established support unit made up of
three classes for students with additional learning needs.
The school
is nestled in a growing community, set amongst an interactive natural bush
landscape. Narara Public School is an integral part of the Valley Schools Learning
Community and works collaboratively with its local Pre-schools, partner primary
schools and high schools.
This
vibrant school community is strongly built on respect, cooperation and a shared
vision of caring for each other which underpins a strong implementation of the
Positive Behaviour for Learning philosophy and trauma informed practice. A
genuine partnership exists between the school and its community with an active
P&C Association and strong links with the local AECG, ensuring the school
is well positioned in supporting inclusive quality outcomes for all students.
The
school strives for innovative and creative educational opportunities and
empowerment of students to be engaged learners and the staff to be quality
educators, building their capacity to be confident leaders in a changing
educational landscape. The school continues to focus on the quality student
outcomes of literacy, numeracy and engagement and caters for a broad range of
activities including performing arts, culture, leadership, sporting,
environmental and academic pursuits.
Key programs to support best practice teaching and learning include Multisensory Structured Language Teaching, Positive Behaviour for Learning and The Big Write. The school also leads comprehensive programs for students in Music and the school is engaging in future focused learning through technology.
