Lake Macquarie High School is a dynamic school moving towards a whole-school STEM focus, coupled with explicit evidence-based teaching and high expectations.
The school is situated on Lake Macquarie, south of Newcastle, with an enrolment of over 400 students expected in 2020, including over 70 students identifying as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander background.
The 2018-2020 Plan is focused on cross-curriculum development of learning and assessment strategies, building staff capacity through evidence-based professional learning and promoting STEM/Future-Focused learning across all areas of the school and local community. Lake Macquarie High School has strong links with all partner Primary Schools and offers a comprehensive transition program for all Stage 3 students. Our school is developing a whole school approach to improving writing in all KLAs.
 
The successful applicant must have proven abilities in working as part of a team and in curriculum development for English based subjects. Highly developed
communication and ICT skills are necessary to support the progression of the 2018-2020 school plan priorities in cross-curriculum development. The applicant must also be competent in the inclusion of adjustments and planning for students with complex needs in a mainstream setting. An expectation of instruction leadership is also advantageous to support staff in their development in Literacy.
