JCU Mackay is co-located with the Mater Misericordiae Hospital in North Mackay. This unique location provides students with extensive hands-on learning and clinical experience at both the Mater and Mackay Base Hospitals, as well as with other clinical agencies.

JCU Nursing and Midwifery is a leader in the regional, rural, and tropical healthcare sciences. The Bachelor of Nursing Science can be completed at JCU Mackay, and includes a science residential program in the first year of study at JCU Townsville. Small class sizes and personalized support from teachers fosters the development of compassionate and highly-skilled graduates.

A Bachelor of Nursing Science from JCU can give students a strong foothold in one of the world’s highest demand professions — all with a unique regional focus that students will not find anywhere else in Australia.

JCU Mackay also offers the Bachelor of Pharmacy (Honours). Students gain hands-on experience in working as a pharmacist in communities that rely on the expertise of local pharmacists. Studying Pharmacy in Mackay allows students to gain a breadth of experience in health care, developing knowledge in a diverse range of areas that study in metropolitan areas cannot match.

Mackay is a vibrant, tropical city with a population of 125,000, situated approximately 1,000 kilometres north of Brisbane. With thriving industries in tourism, agriculture and mining, it is one of Queensland’s most accessible regional destinations. Attractions include the Great Barrier Reef and Eungella National Park.
