Australian Teachers of Media Queensland (ATOM QLD)

Professional development / Last updated 4 years, 8 months ago

ATOM QLD advocates for Film, Television and New Media Arts (FTVnM) education in Queensland by providing professional development opportunities for teachers; advising education authorities on policy and curriculum development, and providing students with opportunities to engage critically with the media.

Membership of the association is open to everyone interested in FTVnM education, with our membership base consisting of primary, junior secondary, senior secondary and tertiary educators, media education academics and film, television and new media industry professionals.

We have recently redeveloped our website to include a members’ only forum to enable resource sharing, discussion on current practice and curriculum as well as news and general updates.

This year we are proud to acknowledge Adjunct Associate Professor Helen Yeates as a pioneer in media education at our state conference, Looking Forward, on November 3 and 4 at QUT Creative Industries.

We will also be presenting the inaugural Helen Yeates Award for excellence in media education to a nominated QLD FTVnM teacher.

Please visit our website www.atomqld.org.au for more information.
