Australian Catholic University (ACU) was opened on 1 January 1991, following the amalgamation of four Catholic tertiary institutions in eastern Australia.
ACU is a publicly funded university open to students of all beliefs. The university focuses on the delivery of quality programs across a range of areas including education, arts, business, law, health sciences, and theology and philosophy.
ACU campuses are a fun place to be. There are student lounges, sports teams, state-of-the-art facilities, and a huge range of clubs to join. Each campus is situated in its own unique location.
ACU offers flexible entry schemes. Bonus points are awarded for certain circumstances, elite athletes get assistance to manage study and training, and school students who contribute to their community can gain early entry to ACU through the Early Achievers’ Program.
Most undergraduates are Commonwealth-supported students, and are able to defer payment through the Higher Education Loan Program. Schemes include:
• HECS-HELP: Helps eligible students pay their student contribution.
• SA-HELP: Helps eligible students pay their Student Services Amenities Fee (SSAF).
• FEE-HELP: Helps eligible fee-paying students pay their tuition fees.
• ABSTUDY: Provides support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.
• AUSTUDY: A means-tested payment for full-time students aged 25 years and over.

Adelaide:
Adelaide Campus is ACU’s newest addition, currently offering postgraduate theological courses.
Ballarat:
Ballarat Campus (Aquinas) has around 1000 students and is located in the centre of Ballarat, a pretty rural town just over an hour from Melbourne. It is situated amid historic gardens, beautiful old buildings, and just a block from Lake Wendouree. Programs include education, nursing, paramedicine or theology.
Brisbane:
Brisbane Campus (McAuley at Banyo) is set on 40 hectares of natural bushland, and has a swimming pool, sports ovals, parking, and an art gallery. Programs include arts, business, education, exercise science, midwifery, nursing, paramedicine, physiotherapy, psychological science, social science, speech pathology and theology.
Canberra:
Canberra Campus (Signadou) is just five kilometres from the city centre, and has a swimming pool, campus lounge with pool tables and tennis tables, and a beautiful rose garden at its centre. Programs include education, nursing, paramedicine, social work and theology.
Melbourne:
Melbourne Campus (St Patrick’s) is right next to the cafés, art galleries and boutiques of Brunswick Street. It has a bar, gym, award-winning library, rooftop garden and art gallery. Programs include arts, business, education, exercise science, international development, law, nursing, occupational therapy, paramedicine, psychological science, social science, speech pathology or theology.
North Sydney:
North Sydney Campus (MacKillop) is just across the harbour bridge from the city centre. Programs include business, environmental science, information technology, nursing, occupational therapy, physiotherapy and speech pathology.
Strathfield:
Strathfield Campus (Mount Saint Mary) is set amid beautiful landscaped grounds and historic buildings, with excellent transport links. It has rugby and soccer ovals, a cricket pitch and an art gallery. Programs include arts, education, exercise science, international development, psychological science, social work, theology, and visual arts and design.
