Resource Description

Your Vocational Major, Pathways, Life Skills and Transition students will love using their power skills (sometimes called employability or soft skills) with these new workplace problem solving task cards - ideal for small group activities and discussions. Power skills are perfect for helping high school students learn about workplace skills and become job ready. All you need to do is download, print and share for a low prep lesson that will have the whole class working together to find solutions.

What are power skills?

Power skills are skills like creativity, innovation, adaptability, initiative, leadership and emotional intelligence which help young workers succeed and thrive at work.

What's inside?

There are 40 task cards included in the set, which you can print 4 to a page. The cards can be laminated for easy use. Each task card has an easy reading workplace scenario and two discussion questions. Students can write on their own copy of the card or discuss and solve the problems in a pair or small group.

Here's an example:

You are playing music at the mall. You often make some money from people who stop to listen to you play. Today a group of people listen for a long time, then walk off without paying you anything.

How would this make you feel?

What could you say and do?

Who is it for?

The power skills resource is ideal for high school and young adult learners in programs such as:

  • Vocational Major
  • Victorian Pathways Certificate
  • Transition Education
  • Work Education
  • Life Skills

Pairs well with...
