Unit of Work - Facts and Fishes - Science, Year 7
Resource Description
The 'Facts and Fishes' Unit of Work has been designed for the Year 7 Science class, where students dive into the wonders of the animal kingdom beneath the sea with scientifically backed research. The 'Facts and Fishes' Unit of Work can be taught as a whole unit of work or as individual lessons and can be adapted to accommodate students needs in the classroom.
Students have opportunities to hone their inquiry and critical thinking skills as they investigate the intelligence, memory, capabilities, sentience, and culture of fishes.
All lessons are aligned with the Australian Curriculum and the cross-curricular priority of Sustainability.
Students will learn:
- The many capabilities of fishes
- The science behind the sentience of fishes
- To think critically about animal protection issues
- The importance of sustainability
The Unit of Work includes:
- Five focus areas complete with teacher instructions and a wide array of activities

- Opportunities for extension
