Sea Country - Marine Parks Cultural Heritage

Resource Description
This education program concentrates on Marine Parks Cultural Heritage – Sea Country, with topics such as sea tucker, traditional harvesting methods, middens, artworks and values. Including an interactive map (https://www.dpi.nsw.gov.au/education-and-training/school-resources/sea-country), videos and classroom activities, this resource is based on the cultural values in and adjacent to the NSW Batemans and Jervis Bay marine parks and the Commonwealth Jervis Marine Park located over 5.5 km from the coast, and can be used as a template for other areas. Classroom learning can be followed up with hands-on experiences and excursions delivered by our Sea Rangers and other local Aboriginal educators. Mapped to a range of syllabus, cross curriculum priorities and general capabilities for the Australian Curriculum and NSW Stage 3 including Science, Geography, Arts, Aboriginal languages, Technologies, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Histories and Cultures, Sustainability, Intercultural understanding, Recognising culture and developing respect.
