Online Classroom: Australian History Series – Year 3 is a package that includes:

• Interactive Online Resource
  The online resource can be viewed on smart/whiteboards, tablets and laptops. This interactive resource includes videos, audio, clickable buttons, graphics and more. It is specifically targeted at engaging Year 3 students and bringing History to life for them.
• Teachers’ Guide
  The teachers’ guide includes step-by-step instructions to using the online resource. All you will need to know about using the online resource is provided in this guide. The code and registration details are provided in this guide too.
• BLM Activity Sheets
  Photocopiable BLM activity sheets which link to the online content are included in this package. Originally created for our popular BLM ‘Australian History Series Book 3: Community And Remembrance’, these activity pages have been modified for this package. Students can complete the activities after viewing the online content. All of the activity sheets have been carefully created to meet the requirements of the Australian Curriculum.

Online Classroom brings Year 3 History to life. The curriculum-linked topics include:

1. Local Indigenous Groups:
   The first section gives students the opportunity to examine Indigenous Australians and use sources to understand where they came from and why they place so much importance on country and place. Students will identify a local indigenous language group to help them understand and develop an appreciation of local indigenous culture.
2. Local Changes and Continuities:
   The second section encourages students to trace important changes and continuities in their local area, dating back to early colonial Australia. They will investigate changes and continuities in relation to work, transportation, education, parks and gardens and entertainment.
3. Development and Character of the Local Community:
   The content in the third section has been designed to help students explore the cultural diversity of their local area and assess how different cultures have influenced Australian communities in relation to religion, beliefs, architecture and festivals.
4. Special Days, Symbols and Emblems:
   The fourth and final section allows students to identify and discuss the origins and importance of special days celebrated and recognised by all Australians, and explore local and national symbols and emblems.
