Genetic Engineering
Resource Description
Genetic engineering is the manipulation and modification of an organism’s DNA through gene addition or removal. It directly alters an organism’s DNA by adding genes from other species to the target organism manifesting a desired phenotype. This can be done through molecular engineering techniques like gene targeting, nuclear transplantation, transfection of synthetic chromosomes or viral insertion.
