Why we must make science compelling for our students
Children are born curious, using the words 'How' and 'Why' with sometimes mind-numbing frequency. That is how they learn to interact with their world, and that curiosity to understand the universe around them is at the foundations of science. It is therefore of great disappointment to me that by Year 7, as I see when I visit Australian schools, students typically describe science as boring and painful, rather than interesting, fun and exciting.
