'Undervalued, underpaid and overburdened': NSW inquiry unveils teacher shortage crisis

A sweeping NSW parliamentary inquiry is seeking to unearth the root causes driving the teacher shortage crisis across the state, with submissions detailing the harrowing toll the staffing shortfall has taken on teachers and school communities.

NSWTF president Angelo Gavrielatos told the parliamentary inquiry there were 1657 teacher vacancies across the state as of June.

Chaired by One Nation MLC Mark Latham, the inquiry kicked off today.
