An incendiary new report by libertarian think tank the Centre for Independent Studies (CIS) has concluded there is no overall teacher shortage in Australia, and that increasing salaries across the board or reducing class sizes would do little to address the issues facing education.

One of CIS’s more controversial recommendations is that teachers’ pay should be more closely linked to their performance, rather than their experience.
