Any teacher looking to inspire young women in their classroom to pursue a STEM-related career need look no further than the example being set by Katherine Bennell-Pegg, the first Australian to train as an astronaut under the Australian flag.
“When I was young, I particularly liked looking at the night sky and when I realised stars weren’t just little pinpricks of light, but were entire worlds, I wanted to explore them, I wanted to understand them better,” Bennell-Pegg says.
