Many students don't understand the importance of good reading skills

A study of 997 upper primary school children across 24 schools in Western Australia has revealed that they were much more likely to read frequently if they thought being a good reader was important.

But almost one in five children either weren’t sure or thought it wasn’t important beyond learning to read.
