Once heralded to signify a ‘new era’ for WA education, the Independent Public Schools (IPS) Initiative has “failed spectacularly” on multiple fronts for principals and teachers, a scathing new report has found.
Originally designed to hand schools greater control over staffing, resource allocation and to slash red tape, the reform has stripped away critical supports and guidance for school leaders, Dr Carmen Lawrence says.
