Shadow Education Minister Tanya Plibersek has signalled the possibility that traditional letter grades would be scrapped under Labor, saying that she would establish a panel of leading principals and teachers to investigate better measures of student progress.
Plibersek's speech was Labor's first detailed reponse to this year's Gonski report.
