Is it time for the cynics among us to open our minds to PD?
If there is a glass half-full way of looking at the phrase ‘professional development’, then there surely has to be a 50 per cent empty tumbler alternative.
An in-depth UK report claims PD “has the potential to close most of the gap between the effectiveness of novice and experienced teachers” and is the most cost-effective method of improvement in a form that wouldn’t cause a fundamental change to a school system or structure.
