How one primary school helped bring an Indigenous language back from the brink
Since teacher Sharon Case and Mossman State School began collaborating with local Aboriginal elders to bring an Indigenous language into the classroom, the rewards have been plentiful for the Queensland school.
Sharon Case, head of teaching and learning at Mossman State School in Far North Queensland, says since the introduction of her Kuku Yalanji Indigenous language program, students’ behaviour and achievement have significantly improved.
