The phrase ‘evidence-based’ has underpinned much of what has happened in the teaching world recently, particularly when it comes to reading skills in the early years.
The potential risk down the track with the ‘evidence based’ phrase is that it can become less about staying up to date with current research and more a rationale for an approach which simply becomes the new accepted way of doing things.
