The surge of crime and chaos plaguing Alice Springs is rooted in education authorities’ ongoing refusal to discard student-led learning and adopt evidence-based teaching methods – a shameful rejection of the science that has denied the most disadvantaged children the chance to become literate and better their lives, prominent Indigenous leader and activist Noel Pearson has said.
