When Education Minister Alan Tudge criticised a draft of the updated Australian national curriculum for focusing too heavily on one perspective of history at the expense of another, he was right.

Tudge's statements on the new curriculum embody the adage that history is written by the victors – or those currently in power – to assert and legitimise their own views.
