The Paris 2024 Olympic Games is the most significant event organised in France’s history.
The XXXIII (33rd) Olympic Games will take place from the 26th July to 11th August 2024 and will feature 19 days of competition.
This event sees 10,500 athletes contesting 329 medal events across 35 sports, with Australia expected to send a team of 460-480
athletes.
Paris will be the second city to host a third Olympics (1900, 1924 and 2024), joining London.
With less than 100 days to go before we will be cheering on Team Australia during the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, now is the perfect time to immerse your students in the excitement an event like this brings.
The French catch cry for the event is ‘AllezAus’ which means ‘Let’s Go Australia!’
The first torch for the Paris 2024 Olympic Torch Relay was lit on 16 April 2024, following the ancient tradition, by the sun’s rays, during a ceremony held in the sanctuary of Olympia, in Greece.
The Olympic Torch relay will travel around France from 8 May 2024, finishing at the Opening Ceremony in Paris on 26 July.

The resources feature The Boxing Kangaroo, known affectionately as "BK” and the Paris Mascot an Olympic Phryge – styled on a French Phrygian cap, a symbol of French liberty.
BK has been adopted as the official mascot for the Australian Olympic Team as they embody the core values of the Australian Olympic Team, encompassing positivity, sportsmanship, respect, and above all, the unwavering determination and resilience synonymous with Australia's spirit of never giving up.
This unrelenting "have a go" Aussie spirit makes BK hugely popular with all Australians.
BK has become synonymous with Australia's proud sporting heritage and is arguably Australia's favourite supporter mascot.
