Early childhood education more than a ‘market’: report
A new paper by the Carmichael Centre, within the Australia Institute’s Centre for Future Work, has urged the Government to begin treating early childhood education and care (ECEC) as a “strategic industry of national importance” – not just a “market” or a “cost” item in the budget.
In order to compete with the ECEC provision seen in Nordic nations, Australia would need to nearly double its annual ECEC graduates – which would require a significant investment in TAFE.
