Amidst fierce competition and hundreds of nominations, two outstanding Australian teachers, representing schools in Queensland and Victoria, emerged victorious, standing among the twelve global winners.

Miss Kelda Wray, from Port Douglas State School in Queensland claims her place in the 'Creative Educators' category, an honour bestowed upon those who weave educational magic behind the scenes.

Nominated by her peers, Kelda stands out for her unwavering commitment to infusing joy into her students' learning experiences. For two consecutive years, she has orchestrated entire-school Escape Rooms, transforming the campus into a hub of excitement and curiosity.

Kelda's imaginative approach introduces innovative learning styles, as demonstrated by this year's Star Wars-themed Escape Room, fostering collaboration, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills. Her passion for creating memorable educational adventures is truly commendable.

Expressing her excitement, Kelda remarked, "I’m thrilled to be a LiteracyPlanet Wall of Fame winner among educators from around the world! In my second year of teaching, I love being creative with my students' learning. The success of my Escape Rooms has been incredible, and I'm already planning for the next ones. I'm grateful for this award, recognising my creativity, and I must add that I don’t always look like Ms Trunchbull!"

Recognised in the 'Unsung Educational Heroes' category is Debbie Edwards, Student Services Leader at Hampton Park Secondary College in Victoria.

Described by her peers as a true multitasker, Debbie consistently provides unwavering support to her colleagues. Her caring demeanour is evident in even the briefest interactions, reflecting her dedication to her student’s well-being.

Beyond her daily duties, Debbie actively streamlines processes at the college, collaborating seamlessly with the executive team. Her commitment to the students at Hampton Park Secondary College is admirable, as she goes above and beyond to support her colleagues, fostering a nurturing environment for success.

Debbie's exceptional quality lies in her ability to inspire and empower her staff, making her a true unsung hero in the school community.
