Are schools responsible for countering violent extremism?
In the past decade or so, Australia has progressively adopted various approaches to counter the threat of terrorism including military action, punitive measures and socially focused or ‘soft’ counter terrorism. This approach is referred to by policy makers as countering violent extremism. It involves a range of civic-based programs and strategies to target the root causes of terrorism that is driven by a social, political or ideological cause.
