School and Regional Operations and Performance Division is responsible for ensuring Queensland state school students are engaged in learning, achieving and successfully transitioning to further education, training and work.

About the Role:

The role will work with and support the work of Court Liaison Officers, who work with young persons appearing in the Children's Court to assess their educational needs and support their reintegration into an appropriate education and training pathways. The successful applicant will be required to work collaboratively with Court Liaison Officers, school and regional staff, and to build strong relationships with young people and families involved in the youth justice system.

Responsibilities include:

  • Work with young persons and their families in the development of a plan that supports their transition to a suitable education or training pathway
  • Develop and maintain connections with other government and non-government organisations across a range of areas, such as youth justice, child safety, housing and health, to support each young person's transition to education and training pathways.
  • Assist in the sharing of relevant information across relevant agencies, in accordance with applicable legislative, policy and procedural requirements.
  • Support regional Court Liaison Officers in their role of providing information to the Children's Court, and participating in multi-agency panels designed to provide holistic support to young persons and their families
  • Assist in the compilation, recording and reporting of case histories and related data and information.

  • The ability to work closely with young people, and their families, with complex backgrounds and needs, in a manner that respects their individual cultures and contexts.
  • The ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders from a wide range of backgrounds and perspectives.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a complex operational environment, in which information must be managed and shared appropriately.
  • Experience and knowledge of, or the ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of, operational processes across the education and youth justice systems.
