Why this Role?
You will have responsibility for the leading and delivery of the following key tasks
- Have a strong presence in the school, being visible to all students, staff and parents and support students' application of the high standards of the school
- Provide support at school events or progams as required
- Provide support via early intervention support programs and some case management to identified at-risk students, fostering, and enhancing their engagement and motivation with their approach to learning.
- Participate in regular monitoring, through observation and evaluation, the effectiveness of programs in improving student outcomes
- Develop and foster students' sense of belonging and social capacity at State High, via early intervention social skill / resilience / self-esteem programs and peer mediation to identified students
- Build upon existing external partnerships to enhance proactive programs, and/or support for identified at-risk students
- Facilitating lunch time and afterschool activities and programs when needed
- Be involved in Student Services Team events including pancake breakfasts and WoW week
- In consultation with the Deputy Principals, conduct home visits with students and their families to advise and provide support, helping at-risk students with re-engaging in education
- Refer students to school support services staff and other personnel as required
- Maintain quality in the performance of all duties; ensure adherence to methods, guidelines, and procedures while continually seeking improvements in the way in which work is undertaken
- Participate in professional development sessions in areas relevant to work programs and expectations
- Develop strong relationships with students using exceptional interpersonal skills and communication
Suitability Assessment Criteria:
- Knowledge of and experience in working with young people at risk of disengaging with education and training and contemporary practices
- Demonstrated experience in youth programs and youth support/case management
- Knowledge of effective support networks for young people and demonstrated collaboration with a broad range of stakeholders to meet required outcomes.
- Demonstrated personal qualities and commitment to working with at risk young people and an ability to work with and develop resilience in young people to support retention and attainment
- Well-developed interpersonal, negotiation and communication skills to liaise effectively with a diverse range of people
- Builds and sustains positive relationships with students, parents and the wider school community, and values individual differences and diversity
- Focuses on clear communication of key points to communicate clearly and effectively in a one on one or small group environment
- Qualification in a relevant field such as community services, youth work (Certificate IV highly desirable), behaviour management, youth and community development or similar

- The ability to organise own work, to work independently and as a team member, to maintain confidentiality, and to reliably meet commitments
- Effectiveness in dealing with students to ensure that the high standards of the school
- A commitment to self-development in areas relevant to work programs and expectations
