We are seeking a School Officer to undertake the joint role of Workplace Health and Safety Officer and Administration Support Officer. You will assist in keeping our school environment and community safe and will also be part of the administration team in a busy school office environment, serving the needs of students and families in our community. A high level of communication and interpersonal skills are required for these roles.
Duties:
- Provide administrative support to leadership concerning assigned aspects of the school’s health and safety compliance
- Provide a source for information, initial advice and support on school health and safety compliance with BCE and legislative requirements
- Undertake workplace health and safety work assigned by the Principal, including improvement actions arising from or consistent with the requirements of the Annual Safety Plan
- Undertake health and safety compliance inspections, providing recommendations to the Principal for follow up actions and improvements
- Undertake health and safety risk and hazard identifications and assessments with regular reporting to the Principal
- Assist staff in the compilation of school-based risk assessments
- Collate data and identify WHS issues and risks for consideration by the Principal
- Work with BCEO Health and Safety Officers to assist with and undertake assigned incident investigations
- Provide and support site specific health and safety training, including health and safety inductions, that meets BCE health and safety requirements
- Assist the Principal with the administrative process improvements concerning school health and safety
- Coordinate the WHS committee on behalf of Principal
- Maintain student Health Plans, medication and First Aid
- Management of external contractors and preparation of Extra-Curricular Timetable
- Student and parent liaison (working closely with the Parents and Friends Association to ensure safe practice for school events
- Various other administrative tasks to support leadership as required
You should hold or be prepared to obtain:
- Certificate IV Work Health & Safety (at commencement or within 6 months paid by BCE)
- Senior First Aid Certificate
- eMinerva (minimum one day training) Experience, Knowledge and Skills
- demonstrate proven communication and interpersonal skills
- hold knowledge and experience in ensuring safe work practices
- demonstrate ability to work successfully with the school community in order to ensure knowledge of and compliance with all necessary directions and procedures
- work closely with the Principal and grounds staff to ensure the safety of all stakeholders
- maintain effective management of safety processes and efficient record keeping You must possess confidence and knowledge with the use of Microsoft Office suite - Word, Excel, Publisher, Outlook and Powerpoint.
To be eligible to be considered for this role you will:
- hold a Paid Employee Positive Notice Blue Card prior to commencement;
- be eligible to work in Australia for the duration of the appointment; and
- have a commitment to and understanding of the ethos and traditions of Catholic Education.
