Unity College has an exciting opportunity for a dedicated and enthusiastic Tuck Shop Assistant to join our school. The Tuck Shop Assistant is supported by the Tuck Shop Convenor in delivering the day-to-day operations of our tuck shop. The tuck shop offers online orders and over the counter sale over two breaks, as well as participating in school events throughout the year.
About the role - We are seeking a Tuckshop Assistant to help the efficient and effective day to day operation of the school tuckshop. The successful applicant will assist the Tuck Shop Convenor to maintain the smooth operation of the tuckshop, maintaining a clean and hygienic workspace.
Typical duties may include but not limited to:
- Follow the Food Safety Management Plan.
- Follow Workplace Health and Safety procedures in relation to the preparation of food and the cleanliness/hygiene of the tuckshop.
- Daily cleaning/tidying of the Tuckshop area.
- Ensuring a high standard of customer service and hygiene is maintained.
- Maintaining stock and ensuring its rotated and stored correctly.
- Handling money and serving the staff & students
- Supporting the volunteers and the Tuck Shop Convenor to ensure the smooth and efficient running of our school’s canteen.
- Preparation of food items for sale and orders.
- Support the Tuck Shop Convenor to build morale, provide a pleasant working environment, and generally relate well to our students, staff, volunteers and community.
About you
The successful applicant should have an understanding of, and a commitment to, the ethos of Unity College. In addition, you must have excellent time management skills, be proactive and well developed interpersonal skills.
Skills you must demonstrate:
· An ability to be proactive, positive, lead volunteers, follow instructions, plan, and organise the day-to-day operations.
· Experience in the provision of food services is preferred.
· Demonstrated interpersonal, communication and customer service skills.
· Be flexible and able to cover for the Tuck Shop Convenor when needed.
To be eligible to be considered for this role you will:
- hold a Paid Employee Positive Notice Blue Card prior to commencement;
- be eligible to work in Australia for the duration of the appointment; and
- have a commitment to and understanding of the ethos and traditions of Catholic Education.
