Position Information
Coorabell Public School is located on the Far North Coast of NSW and has a student enrolment of 90 students, including 6% who identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students. The school proudly sits on the land of the Arakwal people of the Bundjalung nation.
The Coorabell Public School community seeks to provide an academic yet creative and engaging curriculum focusing on continual improvement in student learning outcomes. The school provides a variety of sporting opportunities both at school and PSSA representative level.
Through our situational analysis we have identified that evidence-informed inclusive teaching and learning strategies will be guided by data driven practices. Increasing student attendance through high engagement will also be an area of focus.

Coorabell Public School staff form a cohesive and dedicated team who focus on providing quality teaching of rich and vibrant programs in multi-stage classes and a stand alone Kindergarten class. Establishing, building and strengthening relationships with the Local Aboriginal Education Consultative Group (AECG) as well as arranging meaningful and relevant teaching and learning opportunities, ensures educational outcomes are relevant and culturally appropriate for all of our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.
General Selection Criteria
1. High level educational leadership with the skills to lead and manage a complex public school focused on the delivery of high quality education
2. Ability to lead and manage rigorous and inclusive whole school teaching and learning programs
3. High level communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build positive relationships and engage all levels of the school and educational community
4. Ability to lead and manage the development and performance of staff to improve teaching and learning
5. Ability to plan systems and manage resources effectively and equitably to enhance teaching and learning
6. Capacity to lead staff in implementing the Department's Aboriginal education policies and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people
Specific Selection Criteria
In addition to the general selection criteria, approval to teach infants and/or primary.
Demonstrated capacity to fulfil the role of a highly visible, approachable and collaborative teaching principal who builds authentic partnerships with students, staff, families and the wider community to foster a positive, inclusive school culture.
- Proven ability to embed Aboriginal education as a whole school priority through genuine partnerships with Aboriginal families and community organisations, effectively integrating community feedback while balancing system priorities and local needs.
- Experience in developing and maintaining wellbeing systems that promote positive relationships, student support, and a safe environment demonstrated through proactive leadership and restorative practices that ensure every student is known, valued and cared for.
- Demonstrated leadership in empowering and mentoring staff through collaborative, evidence-based continuous improvement and innovative practices, sustaining a student-centred culture focused on ongoing growth for students, staff and the school community.

The Crown Employees (Teachers in Schools and Related Employees) Salaries and Conditions Award 2017 details the new principal classification structure based on complexity of schools which commenced in 2016. The classification and remuneration of our school principals is based on school complexity, as measured through each school’s RAM allocation. As part of the ongoing application of the new structure a review of thresholds and outcomes will occur on an annual basis. The principal classification for this school is Teaching Principal Level TP2 for 2026.
