Position Information
Kelly's Plains Public School is located 12km outside of Armidale with a current enrolment of 25 students. The school currently consists of two multi-stage classes and is surrounded by a supportive school community.
Kelly's Plains Public School has strong community ties with a focus on students, parents and teachers working together to ensure success in all areas of schooling and beyond. Kelly's Plains Public School collaborates extensively with the Thunderbolt's Alliance of Small Schools. These schools include Kentucky Public School, Rocky River Public School and Kingstown Public School. Multi-stage teacher development across schools is identified, targeted and collaborative to ensure expert teacher development.
Current priorities include a continued emphasis on embedding quality assessment practices in literacy and numeracy focusing on individualised improvement for students. Formative assessment drives all teaching and learning including each students' Personalised Learning Support Pathways. The school strives for excellence in an inclusive environment where every student maximises their potential through a culture of high expectations.

General Selection Criteria
1. High level educational leadership with the skills to lead and manage a complex public school focused on the delivery of high quality education
2. Ability to lead and manage rigorous and inclusive whole school teaching and learning programs
3. High level communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build positive relationships and engage all levels of the school and educational community
4. Ability to lead and manage the development and performance of staff to improve teaching and learning
5. Ability to plan systems and manage resources effectively and equitably to enhance teaching and learning
6. Capacity to lead staff in implementing the Department's Aboriginal education policies and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people
Specific Selection Criteria
In addition to the general selection criteria, approval to teach infants and/or primary.
- Demonstrated ability to manage the complex role of a teaching principal.
- Expertise to lead evidence based, future focused quality teaching practices to provide enrichment opportunities, differentiated curriculum and maximise learning outcomes for all students.
- Evidence of expertise as a highly approachable and visible leader to further develop a culture of inclusion and authentic connections with parents, staff and the wider community.

The classification and remuneration of our school principals is based on school complexity, as measured through each school’s RAM allocation. As part of the ongoing application of the new structure a review of thresholds and outcomes will occur on an annual basis. The principal classification for this school is Teaching Principal Level TP1 for 2024 and also for 2025.
