Veritas Education is currently recruiting on behalf of a local Blackburn with Darwen Primary School for a dedicated Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant (SEN TA).

Position: SEN Teaching Assistant Level 2Start Date: As soon as possibleWorking Hours: 8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.Contract: Initially temporary

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for students with special educational needs.
  • Provide support to students with a range of learning difficulties or disabilities, both in mainstream classes and in special educational provision.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers and other professionals to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Monitor and track progress, providing feedback to teachers and adapting support strategies as necessary.
  • Essential Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children with special educational needs (SEN) is essential.
  • Relevant qualifications or training in special education, such as a Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent, would be advantageous.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting the learning and development of children with SEN.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team, as well as independently, with a proactive and flexible approach to tasks.
