  • We are working with an OFSTED outstanding school in Southfields that are looking for a teaching assistant to join the school for the new academic year. The school are proud of their reputuation for high educational standards in a creative and caring environment. They are at the heart of the local community and have a strong sense of individuality and history. The successful teaching assistant will be joining to support a class of 20-25 students. Your salary will be reviewed on a term by term basis until the end of the academic year with the view to go permanent.

    MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF A TEACHING ASSISTANT

    Teaching Assistant support for Pupils:

  • Support pupils to make good academic progress, under the direction of the teacher and Inclusion leader
  • Set challenging and demanding expectations and promote self-esteem and independence
  • Implement group or 1:1 interventions to support pupils who have emotional or social barriers to learning
  • Establish constructive relationships with pupils, acting as a role model and setting high expectations
  • Promote the inclusion and acceptance of all pupils
  • Teaching Assistant Support for Teachers:

  • Create and maintain a purposeful, orderly and supportive environment, in accordance with lesson plans and assist with the display of pupils' work
  • Use strategies, under the direction of the teacher, to support pupils to achieve learning goals
  • Discuss with the teacher how learning activities are to be organised and what their own support role will be
  • Qualifications needs as a Teaching Assistant:

    Essential:

  • Good literacy skills - GCSE Grade C or above in English Language; Level 2 English or above; or equivalent
  • Good numeracy skills- GCSE Grade C or above in Maths; Level 2 Maths or above; or equivalent
  • Desirable for a teaching assistant:

  • An honours degree (preferably Upper Second) or equivalent
