Position Information
Sir Joseph Banks High School is a comprehensive high school with a current enrolment of 931 mainstream students and a Support Unit of 72 students catering for 3 Intellectually Mild and 2 Intellectually Moderate classes. We are a vibrant and proudly inclusive, multicultural learning community (84% NESB), with 29 Aboriginal or Torres Strait Island students, who have built a strong learning culture of Excellence, Innovation, Opportunity and Success.
Excellence: We are proudly inclusive and utilise the wide range of cultural and language backgrounds as opportunities to deepen and enrich student learning. Innovation: At present we are building teacher capacity through professional learning teams who are working on Future Focused Learning and implementing Project Based Learning, Visible Learning and Growth Mindset as part of our curriculum. Opportunity: Our learning community has developed strong partnerships with our 6 primary partners through the development of a Community of Schools, local, metropolitan and global businesses through Australian Business Community Network, several TAFEs and all major universities. Success: We are a high growth high school achieving at the top 1% in NSW for growth in literacy and numeracy between Years 9-12. For the last 8 years, every student on an ATAR pattern of study has attained offers at the university of their choice.
Specific Selection Criteria
  1. Approval to teach Technology Mandatory 7-8.
  2. Well-developed interpersonal, communication and organisation skills with the capacity to work as a collaborative member of the TAS faculty and contribute to whole school programs.  
  3. Demonstrated capacity to provide engaging and challenging differentiated lessons and programs to cater for student diversity and students with additional learning and support needs. 
  4. Proven ability to manage practical workspaces to ensure student safety, full participation and high levels of engagement in lessons.  
Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
