Position Information

Fairfield High School is a comprehensive high school supported by Resource Allocation Model Equity funding and has an enrolment of 1000 students, including 93% from a non-English speaking background. The school has a Special Education Unit catering for students with mild and moderate intellectual disabilities. A well-established Intensive English Centre is located onsite as part of the school with a majority of the students coming from refugee backgrounds, including asylum seekers. The school has a balance of early career and experienced staff who focus on the delivery of a broad curriculum catering for the needs of individual students. The Community, Achievement, Respect and Environment (CARE) code underpins the ethos of the school. Fairfield High School has a growing parent group with embedded parent and community engagement programs to support student learning and build knowledge and skills for the wider community. Kitchens and timber workshops are state of the art and well resourced.

Specific Selection Criteria

 

1. Approval to teach Stage 4 Technology Mandatory, Approval to teach or preparedness to undertake VET teacher training in (VET Construction) providing the qualification entry benchmark is met 

2. Evidence of effective classroom practice that includes the ability to cater for students with a diverse range of learning needs through differentiated curriculum, classroom management and integration of technology.

3. Demonstrated capacity to work as a collaborative member of the TAS faculty and contribute to faculty programs and resources. Willingness to participate in whole school initiatives.

4. Well-developed interpersonal, communicative and organisational skills to build positive relationships with students, staff, parents and the community.

Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
