Position Information

Colyton High School is a comprehensive high school with a current enrolment of over 730 students including 11% Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, 18% English as an additional Language or Dialect and 40% Language Background Other than English students. The school is located in the western suburbs of Sydney, near St Marys and is part of the Eastern Creek Principal's Network. Colyton High School is committed to providing comprehensive quality learning opportunities for students from a range of cultural and social backgrounds, providing an innovative and engaging curriculum within a strong focus on supporting student wellbeing and supporting the learning needs of all students.   The school has an established Special and Inclusive Support Unit with one IM Support Class and two Multi-Cat (IM/Autism) Classes. Students are offered a diverse range of academic courses of study, supported through the delivery of school and TAFE delivered VET opportunities utilising outstanding trade training facilities. The school offers wide range of extracurricular programs including sporting, and creative and performing arts programs. The school embraces technology at all levels and students have excellent access to in-school technology. There is a strong emphasis on student leadership programs and effective student representation. The school runs highly successful learning support and wellbeing programs to support students with learning difficulties and disabilities. Colyton High School is part of the Colyton Learning Community, producing successful middle school programs with partner primary schools. The school proactively builds and benefits from strong parent partnerships as well as community partnerships with local businesses, tertiary education institutions and non-government organisations.

Specific Selection Criteria
  1. Approval to teach Industrial Technology - Timber and Technology Mandatory.
  2. Commitment to work collaboratively within a dynamic and cohesive faculty with the capacity to contribute to faculty and whole school initiatives that meet the learning and wellbeing needs of all students. Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive learning relationships with teachers, students and parents, working cooperatively to improve student outcomes.
  3. Demonstrated ability to develop and implement quality, innovative and engaging teaching programs and assessments incorporating technology, which differentiate the curriculum to meet the learning needs of a diverse student body, including Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students.

     

 

Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
